Easiest Way to Render Architectural Drawings (Under 1 Minute)

Written by Kacper Staniul

Rendering architectural drawings helps you sell your vision to clients, investors, and stakeholders.

While in the past, it used to take a lot of effort and time, nowadays you can create impressive visuals literally in seconds.

That is, if you know the right tools for the job.

In this quick guide, I'll show you the easiest way to turn your early-stage architectural and interior design drawings into conceptual and photorealistic renderings.

Let's get right into it.

How to render architectural drawings in MyArchitectAI

MyArchitectAI is one of the easiest rendering tools on the market, thanks to its AI-powered rendering engine that automates all the heavy lifting for you.

It lets you quickly visualize your architectural sketches, line drawings, and elevations in just a couple of mouse clicks.

Here's a step-by-step on how to render your early concepts.

1. Create a free account (no installs needed).

2. Upload an image of your drawing. Make sure to remove any dimension lines and signatures beforehand, as they might be interpreted as a part of the design.

3. Choose if you're rendering an interior or exterior scene.

4. Pick the style transfer engine. The two other ones are made for visualizing CAD designs (accurate engine) and improving existing renders (enhance engine).

5. Depending on how early you're in the design process, select between conceptual and photorealistic styles.

5a. Conceptual mode lets you pick from styles like marker, white model, pencil sketch, ink illustration, Bauhaus, and more. These renders will soften the drawing details to keep the focus on your design intent, and not the final details.

Pick one of them and click the "generate" button.

Your drawing will be rendered in about 10 seconds.

5b. If you'd like to include more details in your render, select the photorealistic mode. This mode lets you upload an image of a reference design that MyArchitectAI will use as inspiration and apply to your uploaded drawing.

Then, adjust the "style strength" slider based on how much you want the reference image to influence the generated concept. A higher value will make the render look closer to the reference image.

Optionally, use the "scene description" field to describe how the end result should look. Remember that the higher the "style strength" value, the lower the "scene description's" influence.

Lastly, click the "generate" button, and enjoy your rendered drawing.

If you'd like to make any changes to your rendering, click the "edit" button under the generated image.

Here, you can retexture surfaces, add and remove objects, change the season and time of day, and anything else you need.

Below are some example edits you can make (without entering Photoshop!).

"Change the roof material to black concrete tiles, and make it golden hour"

"Add a couple and two small kids playing on the lawn in front of the house"

Closing thoughts

As you saw, rendering architectural drawings doesn't have to be a time sink anymore.

With modern archviz tools, it only takes a couple of mouse clicks.

Happy rendering!
