Nano Banana Pro can generate at 2K or 4K natively, but only on paid Gemini plans. If you work with standard Nano Banana outputs, or generated images before upgrading, those files sit near 1K. Can Nano Banana upscale images?
Neither Nano Banana, Nano Banana Pro, nor Nano Banana 2 are dedicated upscalers but generative image models. While they can upscae your images, they'l add a watermark to your image, unless you're accessing them through the API/AI Studio.
What's the difference between upscaler and enhancer?
An upscaler adds pixels: it takes a 1024px image to 2048 or 4096px. An enhancer keeps the size and improves what's there: sharpening, color, compression artifacts. If your Nano Banana image is already big enough but looks soft, you need an AI enhancer instead. If it's too small for print, you're on the right page.
Why are my Nano Banana images blurry?
The blurriness can be caused when viewing a compressed chat preview, or because Nano Banana's upscaling process failed. Running it through a third-party upscaler is the most reliable way to fix it.
Is this the official Nano Banana upscaler?

What resolution can Nano Banana Pro images be upscaled to?
Nano Banana Pro can generate 2K and 4K natively on paid Gemini plans, so if you already have a 4K file there’s little to gain. The tool is most useful for standrd Nano Banana outputs (around 1024–1200px) and for Pro outputs that came out at 2K. The 4x option takes a 1024px image to 4096px, enough for A2 print at reasonable DPI.
What formats and file sizes are supported?
JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 10 MB. The output comes back as a full-resolution PNG. If you need a smaller JPEG for the web, convert the PNG with any image editor.
How long does the upscaling process take?
About 15 seconds for most images, up to 30 seconds for larger files or at peak times. It runs in the cloud, so your own hardware doesn’t matter.
Can I use upscaled images commercially?
From our side, yes. We claim no rights to anything you upload or download. Rights to the underlying AI-generated content depend on where you generated it, so check Google’s Gemini terms for their current stance.

Renders are actually one of the better use cases because hard geometry and glazing survive the process instead of getting softened.
Can Nano Banana upscale videos?
No, Nano Banana is only an image generation model, and doesn't handle videos. For generating and editing videos, you can use Google's other model, Gemini Omni Flash.
